Mission Recap

On March 20th, 14 FWC students and 4 faculty members embarked on the 9 hour trip to South Texas.  We arrived at the Iglesia De Cristo Mission Center in Alton, TX late Sunday night. This is where visiting groups who come to do mission work stay.

We woke up early on Monday and received our assignments at two different work sites. The males of the group and Mr. Hensley headed to one location where they were put to work on insulation and sheetrock.  They meticulously checked every screw in the sheetrock to make sure it was done properly and then completed the remainder of the house. This work continued on the second day of the trip. On the third and final day, they worked at a different site where they set forms for concrete and then mixed and poured some of the concrete for the foundation of a house.

The females of the group and Mrs. Holmes, Mrs. Pieper, and Ms. Randolph headed to a house that was being refurbished by the mission center for a nearby church in Las Milpas, Texas. This group painted two coats of primer and then two coats of paint on the house.

Each day the two groups met up for lunch at a local restaurant. In the evenings, the whole group would eat dinner together and play various games at the Mission Center.
The group had the opportunity to enjoy a couple authentic Mexican meals. The above picture was taken at lunch on Tuesday cooked by a local minister and his wife. Yummy!

Upon completing our assignments, on Wednesday, we packed up, cleaned up and rested before the journey back home to FWC. This trip was blessed by the Lord- we had safe travels, no injuries, and good weather.

Thanks for all your prayers and support.
